White carrots that came home with me from the Faire
I didn't use any of the donated white carrots last weekend, but brought home all that were sitting there on Sunday morning. I cooked a few in salted water and put a little butter on them. Very tasty, and clearly not quite the same taste as the orange ones ( Read more... ) -
Fresh country eggs
I'd forgotten how good fresh country eggs taste. This week I have had an egg as part of my breakfast every day and am really enjoying them.

Today's house cleaning project
I have cleaned out the refrigerator. A few mystery objects that were once considered food have disappeared into the trash.
It's so much easier to find things now.
Go figure. -
Townie Fairie
There is some uncertainty about the upcoming weekend, as it is a new event. OTOH I am excited because I get to play with my new cooking toy. Today I start packing things into the truck. -
How wonderful it is to put the drawer back under the oven
The cleaned drawer went back under the oven yesterday. Most of the pots and pans have been cleaned and replaced in the drawer. The rest will go back today. I never realized before that this could be such a moment of happiness, but I am very pleased.
It's a big step in getting my kitchen back. -
Purging my stuff
This week I went through my shoes. I acquired some shoes when my seester and I went through Mom's closet, and this is the first time I have gone through my shoes in a very long time. I pulled out 10 pairs that I will never wear again. I threw 2 pairs in the trash and the other 8 pairs are going away ( Read more... ) -
Bye bye, tent
Cathan and I set up the 12x12 Panther tent a little bit ago and he likes the space it provides, especially the awning. A front porch is nice to have.
So I have parted with the too-large tent I bought last Spring and hope I can get a smaller one built in time for the W-A war. -
I am celebrating that I got my kitchen back
There is a very dead Norway rat in a rat trap this morning. He? was on the kitchen counter between the stove and fridge. I am very glad that I can put my kitchen back together after 2 months of trying to catch the not so little vermin ( Read more... ) -
Question for the hive mind
About a week ago the flat screen monitor for my desktop died. It had been failing for a while, and finally would not turn on any more.
This is the first time I have had to dispose of a monitor in ages and I'm not sure how to go about it?
Ideas? -
Today I planned to mop the kitchen. My dishwasher made certain I would.
I ran the dishwasher after breakfast and a little while ago went to empty it. Not so fast! There was water all the way across the floor to the den (and in the den carpet edge).
I am so glad I bought a carpet cleaning machine at Costco earlier in the year. I just used the machine to get much of the water. Now for the mopping.
