Maggie I completely agree. You are absolutely correct. This whole situation has boiled over and people need to take a step back and focus not on what is best for them but was is in the best interest of the entire band. Let's make band fun again, starting this weekend!

My problem with Eric is that he does not talk to us. Things are Eric's way, and Eric's way only. We came up with a perfectly functional plan yesterday in 10 minutes- if Eric had talked to us earlier, there would have been NO drama. I realize we need to split, and I agree we need people at the men's and women's games, believe me I do. But when I was promised all year that I would go to whatever tournament games HC played in, and then I got lumped with Nikki, Sheerin, and other people who showed up <5 times, I had a MAJOR problem. I don't see why we had to suffer on Friday when the conflict, IF THERE WERE EVEN TO BE ONE, would not occur until Sunday.

There would be drama no matter what happened. If some people got sent to the women's game even after the mens and some got to stay for the men's if they won, people would be angry. I just feel like some people were acting irrationally. I understand what you are saying, about being lumped in with basically non-band members. I don't think Eric meant to insult anyone. I'm getting sent home, yet people with worse attendance than me are going to both. He just thought he was doing what was best for the band and the teams. The only real issue I saw with the whole thing was the Rose thing (Eric originally making himself conductor for men's). Honestly, that's the only legit issue I saw with the whole thing. I just want it to be fun. And people are way too tense.

If I were you I would have been pissed beyond words to be sent home after all your hard work this year. My big thing was I wasn't going to the men's game Friday. I would rather go to NC Sunday than stay in Columbus, believe me. My beef was over the men's game, and luckily we got it solved.

"But I feel like his mistakes wouldn't have been judged so harshly if there weren't preconceived opinions about him."

Amen. I think we all need to realize that if we publicize our negative opinions about Eric in a gossipy way, incoming freshman classes will be against him too, and nothing will ever get better. We are not going to overthrow him so we need to try to get along.

Also, I really admire your giving up gossipping. I can't wait for the trip!! :)
