A wild MEME appears!
So this is what's been happening. I've recently been reading Shadowjack's other 'Where I Watch', of Neon Genesis Evangelion. NGE, also known as EVA, is an anime classic and also one hell of a ride.
According to TV Tropes:
Neon Genesis Evangelion (新世紀エヴァンゲリオン Shin Seiki Evangelion) is a 26-episode science fiction/action/drama anime series which aired on Japanese television in 1995-96. In 1997, Gainax followed the series with the film Death and Rebirth, a Clip Show revision of the series which condensed many of the series' episodes into an hour-and-a-half timespan (while also expanding a few scenes). Death and Rebirth also featured the first half-hour of The End of Evangelion, a full-length movie that brought the story to a much more definitive (but by no means less controversial) conclusion than the television series did.
Anyway.
The Evangelion thread is the perfect way for me to deal with EVA, since I'm not as resilient as I was as a teen and I need the extra layer between myself and the show, as well as the mix of analysis, discussion, fanwank, silliness, and black humour that comes with the WIW taking place on a forum.
But it's still affecting me in weird ways.
The above below is springing into my head and I know nothing about what is forming.
So above below is a short scrap of fic, bits of EVA songs that spoke to me about this, and the tags I used for the ficscrap on Tumblr.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to prompt me to write stuff from this universe. Angelo is, so far, the only named character, but there are others, even if I don't know who they are yet. He's a good place to start. Let the scraps above below be your inspiration, and inspire me in turn. Note: Be certain to look at other people's prompts, and especially at the answers to those prompts. It will help expand the world.
