Spicy tuna roll: Fresh, raw tuna, sushi rice, and spicy sauce (Japanese mayonnaise with Korean chili sauce and sesame oil) wrapped in a sheet of nori.
California roll: Slivers of cucumber, steamed lobster, and avocado wrapped in a traditional sushi style (nori and sushi rice). So so so so good! California rolls are the perfect sushi for non-raw-fish lovers, though if you tried this restaurant's spicy tuna, you'd be a total convert!!!

Yup, nothing like that in these parts either, but Dina introduced me to sushi a couple of years ago. Can't say that it rocks my socks, but I'd like to try it again sometime!

We had a lasagna that looked just like that one last night for dinner. Yum! No Tofu extra meat though :)
Also-I might love you a little bit less for just posting those sushi pictures and taunting two desperatly poor sushi lovers who just drooled all over themselves and cried a little at their innability to afford good sushi.

No, ok I do love you as much, but I am very very bitter and jelous. :)

Oh believe me, we have had to do without sushi (or any takeout) for about three months and it has been TORTURE. This was a particularly special treat - I drove 45 minutes (90 minutes round trip!) and spent $77 on a huge platter for the both of us, to try and salvage St. Valentine's Day. Well, at least the sushi was good ;)

We got a LOT! But the fresh, sushi-grade tuna is pricey! But oh so good...

you'd never believe it was fish, it is just so rich, creamy, and clean-tasting... mmmm....

I used a pound each of muzzarella and ricotta, plus tons of parm-reg PLUS tempeh AND firm tofu -- and John did NOT NOTICE.

You'd be surprised!!!

Quite! Thank you so much for the visual motivation to make them! And even better - I had a lot of leftover cookie dough that I froze, then I found another box of brownie mix that had fallen in the hamper (I thought I had thrown it out) so now I have enough to make YET ANOTHER PAN :D :D :D :D :D

I didn't use icing, but I added extra walnuts. You know, to make them healthy and proteinous ;)

SUSHI = LOVE

<3

No seriously, it does.

(PS: California roll = crab, not lobster... at least, originally, your place might go fancy-schmancy with the lobster.)

PPS: YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!

I seriously could eat spicy tuna handrolls forever. (Sushi was my the last supper I ate with Julia inside me. I hit cytotec's fake "transition" and promptly threw it all up into a bucket :P )

I actually prefer crab but their chef uses lobster most of the time, heh.

And I am a freak, but I love imitation "Krab" or whatever it's called? I've never bought it here but I always get it in Buenos Aires. Don't know what it is, but I love it.

Yeah, spicy tuna and salmon skin handrolls would be me in heaven forEVER.

Imitation crab is pollack (a type of fish). The sad thing is, most immitation crab isn't kosher, b/c they add crab essence or something, but pollack IS kosher!

(And the even sadder thing is, why am I still eating only kosher sushi when I've gone non-kosher in much of the rest of my eating habits? Sigh.)

Pollock, right? I am pretty sure pollack is a derogatory slur for Polish people, lol :X

I've had pollock! Doesn't taste as crabby as I'd like it to... maybe it's the crab essence??? Is it like an essential oil? Dab it on your wrists and behind your ears to entice a man? Or a fish? :P
