sorry that happened: what a bummer. did you tell police? they gather abandonoed bikes, etc and or ones taken from collections of stolen bikes and then auction them off if they aren't claimed. I don't know if they need a serial #er or what.
Once my bike was stolen, but it was then left downtown where the police found it parked somewhere - ( that was in Eugene Oregon) I guess someone just needed a quick way to get downtown & didn't want to keep the bike. Lucky me. But it wasn't an awesome bike, nor a new bike & it wasn't locked in a garage, it was just leaning on a tree or something. Heh.

The police have what info they can use, I believe... serial #, etc.
