One Day
So the thing is, there are two film reviewers whose opinions I trust. One is the late Roger Ebert, the other is irrelevant because he's not available in any language most of you speak. They both gave "One Day" positive reviews - not praise, but "charming and good for a night out"-kind of thing, and this is interesting because the film was mostly ( Read more... ) -

Soooo it's summer and I'm camped out @ My Mum's House for easy access to various visiting family and because I don't ever do anything on the Island. There is preciously little else to report. -
Doing the Konmari thing, enter dilemma
I've gone through my things in Konmari fashion to my satisfaction. I've gotten rid of a lot, though not as much, I suspect, as she prescribes. Magic Kaito 1412 is an adaptation of a late eightes/early nineties manga of the same name. It is mostly interesting today because its protagonist would become a ridiculously popular recurring character in the much more famous Detective Conan. On "Chappie"
It was two hours of nonsense but it was exactly the kind of nonsense you need when you're in the cinema to watch things blow up for two hours. The characterisation is nothing to write home about and the AI thing is handwaved all over the place and the ending was just weird, but there were cars blowing up and cutest robot everPlus: New and inventive ( Read more... ) -
The Wind Rises
I initially felt like I should watch it again before I did opinions Unfortunately, it did not invite to instant re-watch, like some Ghibli films have. It's got a lot in common with Only Yesterday, in that aspect: For being one of the most profound films I have ever seen, it was storywise uneventful.
( But fascinating, and never boring. And I stayed home from work due to a bad cold. )
