I have been off of them for so long, because I worried about the effects they would have on my fertility and the babies during my pregnancy. I need them, my life is out of control and I can't get it back in control on my own. I was holding it together rather well, but with ( Read more... )

I'm glad you're going back on your meds! You were on meds because something was out of balance and the meds put it back in balance. It's not something you need to make excuses for, okay? :)

I'm a few days now back on my Lexapro and it is already making a WORLD of difference. And I'm only dealing with one kid - I honestly can't imagine dealing with two...

I'm ADD too ext_231851 April 17 2010, 15:38:16 UTC
Hope all goes well. I'm 24 and have been on meds for my ADD since I was 12...I get flack for it all the time, but I know I'm doing what's best for me.

When you say "They won't fix the problems, just make me capable of fixing them myself" - I couldn't have said it better, and that's what I have the most trouble explaining to people. Ritalin helps me to filter out the unimportant stuff so I can focus at work, get my studying done, and be as productive as I know I'm capable of.

If you don't have luck at the doctor, it may sound odd but I recommend seeing a psychiatrist. I never would have, but it's what my current health care provider does as procedure, and while not every psych is great this one was. It's great to talk about your ADD with someone who is an expert on it and understands that it isn't something you outgrow and it isn't something you're making up.

Hope everything goes well!
