On being Home.

Finally, after 4 years, being Home begins to really feel strange. I come home, to find things always different. I miss events, like the frozen week that just happened, or holidays, birthdays, moves. I come back, and I feel like nothing has changed! But it has. That tree that I always used to run under, the one Dad and I said "It's Bad y'know" ( Read more... )

Yup, Eugene aint home no more. Things change, if you're not around to change with them they seem foreign once you get back and see what they've morphed into. Fortunately the broad picture stays the way it has always been and, god willing, always will be. If any of us go back and stick around long enough it'll start being home again. The real question is which if any of us are going to. Eugene's own diaspora.

I find it funny that despite the fact that we're almost out of college we still have to do shit like that to keep our parents happy. My mom still does it with the grandparents.

Diasporas sometimes have regroupings. Hmm, "Eugene as Israel," or some such.

I'd love to ski with you. I'll be in the Bend area from the 22nd to the 29th.
