hi guys! Im at an internet cafe in florence. im having a wonderful trip and getting very inspired by everything in italy. i loved venice best so far. the grand canal at night was so wonderful. i hate to think that all this must go on without me when i leave! ok, bye :)

Ok, this is it! I'm leaving for Italy tommorow! I can't wait to catch up on journals when I get back.... so get a lot of sewing done!!!!

I just got accepted to YWAM (youth with a mission)!!!! It is a a christian missionary training school that spends three months in missionary training and then three months of outreach (or missionary work). I'm not trying to be repetitive and boring, but I hate sleeves. I probley put in two hours on my 18thc. jacket project on figuring sleeves and got NO WHERE!!! it's pathetic, really. What I realized I've been doing wrong is draping the sleeve too low. If this was an 1860's garment, I suppose that would be ok, but since it's not... it's not ok. ( Read more... )

I've made some progress on this jacket but not really. The sleeve is making the armhole tug really strangely... I wish I was gifted at sleeves. I think it may be that the arm hole is not cut quite right (too far across my armpit, if that makes sense), so the sleeve is pulling on unnecessary fabric. I'm still going to have to work on it.
