Hi! So, though I've given you some feedback along the way, I haven't given you a proper comment on the finished product, so HERE GOES!

"I think I'll call it a god has fallen," he says from where he's crouched in the doorway.

LOOOOVE this. SO fucking funny and deadpan. I adore it. I love the whole beginning, which begins with an action and sets up the feeling of warm camaraderie that they had in the studio. The entire conversation between Mikey and Gerard is so awesome - I can totally picture Gerard and his "note that makes you think". <3333

"I'm invisible when I'm being a photog, remember?"

"You're not allowed to say photog anymore,"

OH GOD. When I first read this, I laughed out loud because it's SO PERFECT. Gerard says EXACTLY what we're thinking, and it's so satisfying. :)

"You okay?" he asks Ray quietly, feeling kind of bad.

I am so glad that this is here, because he would care. He'd be a bit of a dick about it at first, just to tease, but he would totally care. <3 ( ... )

And then - yes. When Frank's discovered, he feels WEIRD. As he should. And Gerard feels kind of embarrassed. And it almost almost gets laughed off and they move on, but Frank says the magic words I can make anything look good, and Gerard CAN NOT RESIST. This is the greatest, and the way you do it is so incredible. That they realistically go through all of these emotions and then end up where they end up. And it's exactly right that they're tired and punchy and it's the middle of the night, because there's no way any of this would have happened otherwise. But things HAPPEN in the middle of the night when you're exhausted but happy and adrenaline-filled. IDK. I totally get why Frank stays and takes that first shot, you know? And that was a hard thing to get across, and you did it so well.

Frank doesn't notice he's licked his lips until he feels his own breath ghost across them. This is just one of those things that you do so well. It's beautiful and REAL ( ... )

Gerard tilts his head back and raises one dark eyebrow at him. Frank just arches his back at him over the top of the camera, snapping a few more shots

I LOVE THIS SO HARD. THEIR LITTLE EYEBROW-RAISE CONVERSATION. IT'S ONLY TRUMPED BY THE AWESOMENESS OF THEIR EYEBROW CONVERSATION LATER, WHICH WAS ONE OF MY FAVORITE THINGS TO READ. <33333

"Oh," he moans, sounding surprised by how good it feels, and his eyes flutter shut again, that bravado slipping.

YES. This is what I mean. I love him slipping between diva-for-the-camera mode and just "this feels fucking AWESOME" mode. It is the actual greatest.

kicking and catching again on the rungs

This was another favorite line to read. Sometimes things sound SO GREAT out loud. <3

And oh god the whole lead-up to Gerard coming and his actual orgasm is ridiculously hot. *______*

...and then it's awkward. Because YES. It would be!

And oh man. Their kiss is SO HOT.

Gerard's tongue slides in one smooth line along the seam of Frank's lips and Frank feels his whole body just open, fists relaxing ( ... )

Holy fucking SHIT, woman. This comment is above and beyond anything I was expecting, or deserved, after all the incredible support you provided through the whole editing process - not to mention the fact that you CAME UP WITH so much of the plot itself! ♥_________♥ you spoil me to DEATH and I cannot wait for when I have the time to spend a whole evening listening to yours with my notepad out so I can write you a proper comment on it too.

I'm really, really glad the beginning worked for you - set the stage and also provided a bit of a different backdrop to compare things to, when they get heavier later on... and Frank being just SO HAPPY about what they're doing! Boys/happiness, still one of my favourite pairings :D

Half of the reason that I love reading your words is because they are so beautiful, and this is no exception. Once again, it's an idea that I've NEVER heard before, but as soon as I read it, I thought: YES. THIS.THANK YOU. Ugh. THANK YOU. I don't know why, but I often spend a lot of time looking at maps and images and ( ... )

YOU GUYS. you are both AMAZING. To have BOTH of you work together on somethings as filthy and hot and WONDERFUL as this is the greatest thing EVER. Dear god, I LOVED this. (And I hope my neighbors did too - I forgot my window was open as I listened to the podfic OOPS.)

Fic first: man. I just re-read this and it's stupidly hot and captures that MOMENT, in 2010, of them reinventing themselves, you know? I love how giddy they all are with it, how you showed that in words and actions, and how would up they are with knowing they HAVE something.

I love the moments - Gerard and Mikey's conversation about the sad note (and Ray's take on it - LOVE), and Frank and Ray looking at the pictures together, Frank's cell conversation w/Jamia in the parking lot. I love the details - the description of what Frank sees (or doesn't see, but knows) is beyond the parking lot, the foreign feeling, the disconnect between Jersey and LA. And the detail of how Gerard used to sing, notes filling out in his mouth, god, yes, that what a PERFECT description, and ( ... )

I LOVED this moment:

The way he pulls the collar down creates these lines in the fabric and Frank doesn't even think before he says, "Lean your head back, away from your hand."

SO much, how Frank is caught up in it, that part of his brain working while he's still freaked out/turned on in the OTHER part of his brain.

This, too, I think captures that disconnect SO perfectly:

He catches glimpses of his own fingers whenever he pulls back to look at the screen and the inked skin seems weird, like it doesn't belong in this moment, like it's not about him right now.and god, man, Gerard with his hand curling up around his neck, against his face, in his hair - yes, yes, YES. We SEE him when he's performing, he TOTALLY gets off on that, and having it be part of THIS, that touching, stroking, hanging on - god, it was SO fucking hot ( ... )

Oh my GOD WHAT DID I DO TO DESERVE YOU *_____________________________* Seriously this comment has been bringing me ENDLESS JOY every single time I even so much as GLANCE AT IT and I seriously SERIOUSLY appreciate that you took the time to read and listen and share so many thoughts with us. <33333333

THAT MOMENT IN 2010! Yes. This idea has been in the back of my mind ever since Frank posted those prints online... at the time, we knew they were in the studio and excited, but only NOW, after hearing them talk about in interviews and seeing JUST WHAT INCREDIBLE SHIT THEY WERE BREWING IN THERE, do we get a real sense of how amazing that space must have been, y'know? And I'm SO HAPPY that came across to you, because it was really the thing that motivated the whole story. ♥

I love the details - the description of what Frank sees (or doesn't see, but knows) is beyond the parking lot, the foreign feeling, the disconnect between Jersey and LA. :D!!! I'm so happy that worked for you, because it's something I was constantly aware of, and just ( ... )

No, okay. So, I really loved the idea of Frank with a camera and I realised that I've actually never imagined it before until I read this. Not even when I actually knew about his photography interests, I never imagined him holding the camera. So I decided to draw this http://i55.tinypic.com/264olq9.jpg and when I was done I thought I might as well share it with you since you're the author after all.
So.. hope you like it. This is the first 'fanwork' i've ever done soo... yeah.

Hi! I'm so glad you liked this, and holy SHIT that's an incredible drawing! Wow! The colours are spectacular, and I can't believe all the detail in his hands, they look fantastic - and I love how you chose to focus it around that, because that was such a strong visual for me when I was writing: how his fingers looked wrapped around the camera. Amazing!

Seriously, thank you SO much for sharing this! I've never been part of anything that's inspired fanart before and I'm SO happy you enjoyed the story. If you have a username or a permanent place that drawing will be, let me know and I'd love to link to it up in the header notes for the story, if you're okay with it! ♥

(PS if you haven't check out the podfic yet, make sure you do! It's SO GOOD)

I'm so happy you liked it! And yes, it's totally okay for you to link it. I do have LJ but I haven't given myself the time to understand it so I barely use it, it's http://fishtardz.livejournal.com/ anyways so...

I've posted the drawing on my personal blog http://valees.blogg.se/2011/august/happy-seems-simple.html so yes, it'll be there for a long time. You could link only the picture itself instead, if prefer that.

Thank you for the positive feedback! ♥ i'm glad you liked it :)

Everything intelligent that could be said about this fic has already been said, so I will content myself by making high pitched squeaking noises, like a bat or a mouse.

But, I will say that this bit here:

"We look happy," Ray says softly. Happy seems simple, but Frank knows what he means: how big that word is for them right now, after what they've been through, how long they've been at this; how it feels like relief but at the same time feels like striking out into uncharted territory, shit-scared and too excited to sleep.

totally got me. Right where I live.

:DDDD RIGHT WHERE YOU LIVE!

I'm so glad you enjoyed the story and connected with that part especially - it was really what made me want to write it in the first place, connecting with that incredible excitement they must have been feeling.

Thanks for commenting, I hope you get a chance to listen to the podfic! ♥
