Rules [Updated 4/30/12]

1. Stay in character.

Which means: your moods and opinions don't enter the RP. Your character's moods and opinions do. If you have personal opinions of another character or pairing or player, they don't enter the RP, unless your character's stance on those issues legitimately matches yours (and a character should never have an opinion of a player -- players don't exist to characters). We're not here to flame or hate or fight amongst ourselves, we're here to play a silly game on the internet.

2. If there is an issue, contact the mods.

HOWEVER, the issue must be directly related to this RP. If another player has a difference with you from another setting which the mods do not have any authority over, then it's not our responsibility, and you're to leave it outside this arena. That said, if there is an issue we can help with, we'll do our best.

3. Be an adult.

Before you take anything to the mods or make a complaint, try to work it out amongst yourselves in a civil and mature manner.

4. No god-modding.

You get to make decisions for your own character only. If you want to make a post or write a piece of storyline that involves another character, you must get that character's player's consent.

5. No extra powers, and no invincibility.

Yes, this is an alternate universe RP, however, characters must still be themselves as much as possible -- which means, they cannot possess any powers they don't possess in their canon. In addition, even if your character is invincible within their own canon, they are not invincible here. And, another character from another canon might be equally as powerful. If your characters are going to get in a fight, keep in mind that they are characters and in no way a reflection on you, which is to say, a character losing a fight says nothing about yourself, and so there's no reason to get offended over it.

If you're not sure which character would win in a fight, work that out with the other player.

6. Activity

The more active everyone is, the more fun this RP will be! That being said, real life does happen -- so minimum activity is one post per played character per month. Comments do not count as posts. You should also comment and participate in other characters' posts.

7. Posting

All posts which you intend to be included within the game's timeline go in the main community. Posts in your personal journals or conversations in messengers (MSN, AIM, etc.) are NOT part of this RP. Of course, you can use your personal journals for whatever you want -- memes and stuff, fun things, whatever. And, messengers are necessary for plotting with other players, so you should definitely use them for things related to this RP. Again, though, all actual playing happens in the main community.

8. Tense/Style

This RP is open to any tense or style, however, you must state which tense or style you will be using in your post, and everyone who comments on that post must adhere to it. So if you see a post which says "third person present, semipara" that's how your comments must be written. For more on this, see the posting guide.

9. Format your posts according to the posting guide.

It's not that much work, and it keeps the community neater and easier to read. And, if there seems to be an organized structure to things (so we look like we know what we're doing here), the community will be more attractive to new players -- and having more players makes playing more fun.

10. Sex and other mature content

▸ Any post containing mature content must be locked. If you weren't expecting sex or graphic violence to pop up in your comments, but it did, go back and edit your entry to lock it.

▸ Rape is not permitted.

▸ Pregnancy is not permitted. Now, we're not saying pregnancy is bad. However, it's very unlikely a student or a member of the staff could handle the workload at this school at the same time they had to deal with all the things pregnancy entails -- even just the schedule of doctor visits. And before you ask, no, the clinic on campus is not equipped for child birthing and doesn't have the equipment necessary for the routine blood testing pregnant women undergo.

▸ Pairings are all accepted, whether they're yaoi (male/male), yuri (female/female), multi (more than two people), het (female/male or male/female), or whatever (Vergil/coffee, etc.).

▸ If you, the player, are younger than 18, please try to keep your content relatively clean and steer clear of explicit sex scenes.

11. Character limit

You can play up to three characters.

12. OOC Posts

...all go in the OOC community.

13. You must be watching dh_handbook, and be a member of devilhighooc and devilhigh.

14. Add all the characters as friends from your character journal.

You can do that in a couple quick steps at the Friend Add post.

15. Intros, hiatuses, and dropping

▸ You don't have to make an intro post, though you're welcome to.

▸ Dropping/Hiatus notices go here.

15. The community grew an OC policy.

We didn't plant it, but look, there it is. Amazing. If you're going to app as an OC, you should read it.

General Warnings
  • All communities related to Devil High contain spoilers.
  • Do not view content in devilhigh or devilhighooc unless you are 14 or older.
  • Do not apply to play in
devilhigh unless you are 16 or older.
