more alluring?

(i apparently scare my students.
i apparently have a reputation
as a tough grader.)

that's my start time for oct. 7. i'll be wearing #19 and have 18 riders to chase up the mountain. fun. we'll see how much i'm actually able to "train" in the next 3 weeks...

it's beautiful out and i would love love love to just hop on my bike & head out for miles but responsibility (and a sore right ankle) plants me home.

so i'll dodge ben franklin in other ways, & recap:

first week of classes: ended on a thursday night with beer and relaxing with colleagues, and then homeward to pack for a 2-night backpacking trip.

we're immersing ourselves in the first season of hbo's the wire. it makes me desperately want to vacation in baltimore.

tonight i'm making a fiesta of fungus: portabello ravioli in a red wine-porcini mushroom sauce, with asparagus and peccorino romano.

until then, though, i need to edit and perhaps get out for a two-hour ride...
