Advice needed

I need some advice on a recent etsy purchase.  I hope it ok ask this in this community given the purchase wasn't diapers, but it does relate to a WAHM, Palpal and Etsy which I would assume the mamas of this community are very familar with.

Before my purchase I had convoed with the seller about setting up a custom listing and asking how much it would ( Read more... )

Considering you asked about international shipping and had a quote for an international shipping price, I think she should have noticed and at least asked. It's definitely something that would send up a flag for me, even if I had a lot of packages to ship.

Also, if she canceled the order, (especially without discussing it with you), then I believe she owes you a full refund.

Honestly, if she marked the order as canceled, I would just request a refund. You can always resend her payment if she gets the package and wants to send it out to you.

As far as her husband and assistant go, if she discussed something as important as international shipping with you, she should have noted it immediately on your account/order precisely because of this type of mix up.

Sure, your paypal address was wrong, but it seems like she picks and chooses as well with this comment - "But sometimes Paypal shipping is down so i may need to use your etsy address." If she doesn't ALWAYS use Paypal addresses then she shouldn't be holding you to anything.

This is just my two cents though. Someone else may disagree with me. *shrugs*

If she quoted you for and charged you for international shipping, it's on her.

I agree. How much more explicit could you have been about it shipping internationally?

I do want to add though that PayPal protection won't cover any disputes if a package isn't shipped to the PayPal address on file, so I really don't like to ship to an address other than the PayPal address. Although with international shipping, if there's no DC, PayPal protection won't apply anyway.

If she canceled the order with etsy, I think she's on the hook now to refund you the money. You could probably make etsy force her to pay you back if you show that you in fact DID pay for the order.

Oh thats good to know. There was a DC because she shipped it to Houston. :(

I didn't know I could file a claim through Etsy. How do I do that? I was thinking if this wasn't resolved I would file a Juicy Apple Report on her, but didn't know what else I could do.

I don't know about the rest of it, however I had this idea.. If at all possible, can you find the phone number to the people who are living in your old house now? Maybe you could call them, ask if they got that package and then ask what they did with it?

I dont know the name of the people who bought our home to even look this up (the sale was done after we left and all signed for by our power of attorney (realtor)so I never saw info on who the buyer was). I don't know what happened with those documents either since this is my husbands domain and right now he's out of the country. :( But yes, I had considered doing this also.

She's wrong, even if she has other people helping her out. You told her expressly that it was going to Australia, that puts it on her for where to ship it correctly.

Please do (for the future) fix all of your accounts to have the right address, though. As a seller it makes my life easier to not see conflicting addresses (and having to go in and fix things bc the buyer put it in wrong). :-) I sympathize with the seller because I know how much of a pain in the butt this is for me, but at the same time you let her know so the ball was in her court.

I just tried to add my current address to my US palpal account as a "Gift Address" and it wont accept it because its not in the States.

We keep this paypal account because our bank account and income is still in the US. I do have an Australian Paypal account but I only use it for Australian purchases since it wouldn't make financial sense to exchange money to the Australian paypal only to have to exchange it again for goods purchased in US dollars.

Do you know if there is a way of adding a non-US address to a US paypal account? I may very well be missing something basic here :)

I don't know, sorry! My husband fixed my account when we moved. I think you might have to call them.

If she charged you for int'l shipping, and you'd discussed int'l shipping, then it's on her, imo.

Agree. All her kvetching about being so busy and having people working around the clock and making notes in the system and blah blah blah don't matter. International shipping was discussed. OP's order should have been flagged in their system. Seller owes her money or product, IMO.
