Playing devil's advocate here. I'll stop if asked to. I'll just state right now that I'm probably being callous as hell, but I'm a Gemini so that's par for the course.

Most of us are intelligent individuals; when faced with facts that negate our arguments, many of us would probably back down. Ridley not only didn't back down, but stuck his fingers in his ears and went "La La La" when it was pointed out that both sides of the war were pretty fucking stupid, then had a hissyfit and basically said "Poo on you! I'm taking my toys and going home!" when no one agreed with him. He ignored anything that went against his openly biased views. This is not conductive to proper debate. So the thread would have died anyway because quite frankly, most of the rest of the board is intelligent enough to DROP IT.

I thought a closing of the thread was completely unnecessary, and that we're better off without someone who refuses to acknowledge all sides (like Ridley). But that's just me.
