Thanks to a combination of depression and wanting to focus on a different deadline, I hadn't finished that disability claim paperwork and today I received a letter claiming that the deadline had been ten days - unless I somehow missed it, the previous paperwork and letter said "as soon as possible" with no clear deadline! One of the migraine symptoms I get sometimes is post-migraine euphoria. I don't always get it (if I take medication in time, I skip the whole thing), and sometimes I'm so exhausted by the migraine I end up sleeping through it. Some time ago, maybe a month ago, my disability case came up for review, I filled out the paperwork and sent it off. I'd hoped that'd be the last of it but of course not. Randy got this little plant pot, dirt pellet and a circle of seed paper from a cigarette company. The seed-embedded paper was made of cigarette butts and it stunk and I think the point was you grow flowers out of the paper thus proving something about that company totally not destroying the world with their products because look their garbage is ( Read more... )

I'm starting to pick up on a pattern with the no-bark-education-game. When the dogs hear a new thing, they bark at it. We teach them not to bark at it, and after painstaking application of the word shush, treats and praise, they learn to stop caring about it. We did go to the pet adoption event like I'd planned and we brought home two dogs, two little chihuahuas. They were the first dogs we saw there, but I wanted to look at more than that before we made a decision - we ended up walking around the whole place, seeing all the dogs, and meeting a couple first hand, before finally coming back to those two ( Read more... )

The only problem with having an unusual life experience like homeschooling is that when you want to create a character that had a different experience (going to high school) there's almost no writing resources.
