I have a question for all of you lovely people (those of you who are slashers, at any rate, which is most of you). How and when did you first get interested in slash? A whole day completely devoid of human contact has made me curious about things not entirely my business.

I think I've been a slasher all my life, even before I new what ( Read more... )

I'm a spuffy shipper before. I've been hunting down some good spuffy fic in the net, then I've had stumbled into reading a fic, I think it was Amnesia, a funny and witty fic. It contains slash scenes. I'm surprised that I'm not really disgusted by the thought of it.In fact, I've been so turned on, especially the thought of Spike with Angel. Ever since, I've been a Spangel gal.

So there, my backstory why I've been a slasher.

I was never a Spuffy shipper, although I do enjoy Herself's fanfiction very much. Ah, "Amnesia," I remember that story fondly. I still reread it every now and then. One of the reasons I like Spike/Angel is because it's canon, so it's more probable than, say, Riley/Angel. Plus the boys work well and look pretty together, don't they?

Thanks for sharing your slash backstory. Kisses.

Ahh. I go back to the X-Files days. Mulder and Skinner. But my favorite is really Spander, with a close second to Spangel. Although there was this LJ'r writing some really amazing Mal/Spike stuff. I wonder whatever happened to that person....heh

Like many [most?] slashers, I am het, and I'm not sure what the pull is for me. F/F slash doesn't appeal in the same way to me, so I guess that's the het in me...shrug...I do find a lot of slash hotter than most het writing, although there are certain writers who write universally hotly. Heh. I agree with your opinion of herself, and would throw eliade, peasant and nwhepcat in as my favorites as well.

Mal/Spike? Really. *is curious* I'm het too, like most slashers. I don't really know why that is... I personally think that it means that we are very healthy-minded people, with the biological urge to reproduce (even if you never want children, it's still there if you're in a het relationship) but with the ability to appreciate other form of sexuality as well. Or something.

You're totally right about the authors you mentioned, they all rock! I just mentioned Herself because she had the biggest impact on me as a Spuffy writer.

Thanks for sharing your slash story with me! Spike/Mal, eh... Interesting...

Okay, and LJ is fubared tonight. At any rate, you're not Spike/Mal, but closer to Spike/Angel, if I remember correctly. And I still want the rest of your story, someday. *L* And now I slink away and be a dork somewhere else. Heh.

Oh, Lj does that to me all the time too. Want the rest of my story? It's right there in my memories section, just waiting for you. It would love you very much if you read it.

Wow, that's a good question. Here's the long version. I know that you so wanted to know. I got into slash a few years ago after beginning a story that upset one of my professors. I was told it wasn't believable. Basically it was about this couple who were dealing with her pregnancy by a previous boyfriend and his secret. Turns out that he had been sexually assaulted by a group of guys at a bar one night and she ends up being there for him and whatnot ( ... )

That story sounds interesting *and* believable; your professor must have been a moron.

Your last paragraph is so true, and I agree with you completely. Thanks for sharing your slash story with me, it's great to connect with someone on the same issues!

Angel/Spike, eh? Yep, that's all it took for me too. Hooked for life, unfortunately. It's become like a drug. Perhaps there's a slashaholic's anonymous for me?
