Journalversary!

Today we're celebrating the JOURNALVERSARY. Yes, folks, it's been ten years since a wee 17-year-old Laurie crawled onto the Internet and began documenting her life on black backgrounds with white text and creepy red links. A toast to you, 17-year-old self. Let's see what she had to say ten years ago tonight:

Joint journalversary party!

I think "agh" is about right, though. I'm not sure whether to have pride in my 10 years of entries, or to cringe at how addicted I am to writing online.

Do you still journal offline? I'm getting into it big time (just posted an entry about that).

I used to, and your entry is making me wish I still did, for the same reasons of preserving personal and family history. But when I got back into working on my novel earlier this year, that overtook my writing life. It's become like a second job, what with all the time I spend writing, revising, re-plotting, and studying up on the publishing industry. I still try to update this LJ, and I'm working on a couple shorter pieces for publication (I hope). And lately, my day job has turned into spending three-quarters of my time writing language tests. So something had to give, and it turned out to be the private journal. I sort of regret that, but I'm hoping I can get back into it at a time when my life is about something other than this current pattern of working and writing, working and writing, etc.

Happy journalversary! I guess I started reading in 1999 (maybe late 1998?). I know I was reading your journal during the summer I did my internship (1999). And I remember your switch to LJ -- it was the reason I signed up on here, because I wanted to be able to comment.

Happy Journalversary! I can't believe it's been that long! I've been reading since January of 1998, I believe. I stopped keeping a "personal webpage" sometime back in 2000 when I moved out on my own without a reliable computer, but I remember dropping in on my parents every so often just to take over their computer and catch up on your LJ. In fact, a big reason why I came back after 6 years was because I was tired of not being able to comment.

Anyway... 10 years! Awesome!

LOL! Funny how differently everyone sees themselves from how others do...I remember being SO impressed in those days, because your writing seemed so smooth and adult and...meaningful.

Happy LJversary, at any rate :-)
