I'm finding it hard to believe it's October already! That means I'm due in 2 months...whoa...crazy. In health news, I now see my doctor every other week. I'm negative for gestational diabetes (yay) but I am now taking Iron supplements due to being slightly anemic (totally normal). So I have picked a pediatrician, I believe. I started with local recommendations from my Mother's group, and called all 3 to make appointments. One office didn't seem too friendly on the phone and said the doctor would call me back, which she did to give me time slots. Friday night Mike and I went to "Meet the Doula" night at a Palo Alto birthing class center. What is a Doula you may ask? A doula (not dolma, as one co-worker asked, but still a Greek word) is a woman who assists with childbirth or post-partum childcare, depending on her area of expertise. I think because you're done done at 36, so they basically just added all the extra time to the second trimester? Dunno. I had another OB appointment this week, it's amazing how normal I am (physically :) ). So, all the books and podcasts suggest taking a "babymoon", which is basically the last trip you take as a couple before you will have a baby in tow, around now. Today I hiked Windy Hill again, about 8 miles up and back, 1400' elevation change. (Wow, it's like my hiking and baby journals are merged.) A bit slow going on the way up, my resting heartrate is pretty quick these days so it doesn't take much to push me into the above-140 zone anymore, which I'm supposed to avoid.
