I should probably talk on this little piece. I don't want it squirting water at me... or whatever it does ( Read more... )

not used to staying in one place, keeping the device happy, ruling out parallel worlds, vacation time apparently

Black Knights...? What do they do?

[Pause.]

Historically, they're wild cards who threatened pre-established order. [It comes out sounding like a quote.] ... Back a long time ago, I mean. They were pretty much a symbol of death.

Hah. Black ops? Do they work for a government? For money>?

... It's a little more complicated than that. For... something that wants to be a government, I guess.

Hit the gym. You wanna fight, there's plenty aboard who'll do that for you, too, kiddo.

So there is one... I thought so. I'll go hunt it down later.

[Laughing a little.] Sounds like I want a serious fight, when you put it like that.

I'll save you a walk. It's on Deck aught-two.

[Kage exhales a smile.]

Fightin' for fun is a waste of fuckin' time. What's that teach you? You either fight for real'n learn or you're just playing.

Hey, thanks.

It doesn't teach you much... but if that's all you can find, it keeps you good and ready for the real fights.

Gotta say, the practice ones aren't nearly as... [Okay that would sound kinda wrong.] ...good. It was a damned lot easier to find real ones back where I come from.

'Black Knights'? Nothing like that from home, non. [Just Misfits.]

diverged_fate December 23 2009, 19:01:08 UTC
You're not exactly missing out. What's your home like?

Reply

dormant_beast December 23 2009, 19:40:15 UTC
What...are they?

It is not so nice, but it is home, yes? It is all I know.

Warriors from the past. Or, at least, that's where they belong...

I'm not used to that. The 'home,' part... I didn't really stay in one place for long. Is it really different from here?

Black Knights...? Sounds like a guild or something.

diverged_fate December 24 2009, 05:57:15 UTC
If you're talking historical Black Knights, they were wild cards... Sometimes they joined up to fight though.

Are there 'guilds' called that where you come from?

ineptrogue December 24 2009, 05:59:41 UTC
There are all sorts of guilds with all sorts of names. I lost track before I even tried to keep up. Only one was important, anyway.

diverged_fate December 24 2009, 06:04:45 UTC
So your culture is just structured like that...? I'm surprised you lost track in that case.

I only know the ones in-in-in stories.

And Monty Python. Aheh.

The gym is-is--is a good place to keep in shape. They have a running track. It's, uhm, it's-it's-it's on deck 3. And there's a-a--a pool on...well. No, there's pools on deck 3 and 15, but, uh, 15 is a bunch of caves. It's really...it--it's really beautiful down there? In a...serene way.

[Comfortable lighting for a freak like him.]

That's really where they belong. I'm sure they caused less trouble back in the day.

What's Monty Python again? Can't say I've heard that one before.

[And he's quiet, just listening to Herz go on about the gym. No one else really described it.]

Caves... I've been in a couple of those before. They were beautiful, what I could see of them anyway. I didn't really have time to stick around and explore though.

You've--you've never seen Monty Python?

...do--d-do you like strange comedy? Like...well, just odd, uhm, odd jokes that fly in out of nowhere? Monty Python is a lot like that.

I'm sure the library would have it. It, uh, it being 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail'. It's got the Black Knight in it, uh, b-but--but it's silly. Honest.

I-I haven't, uh, I haven't seen it in a while. I--I-I wouldn't--I wouldn't mind watching it with you?

diverged_fate December 24 2009, 06:18:38 UTC
'Seen?' Nah, it doesn't sound familiar... oh, is it some kind of TV thing? I haven't watched one of those since I was a little kid.

Uh... [He laughs.] I'd probably have to see it. Sounds pretty funny though.

[He's making shifty eyes at watching anything with Black Knights in it, but maybe he'll get a laugh out of it. And he can vaguely remember loving tv back when he was seven or eight.]

Okay sure, I'd like that. If you can even find it around here...?
