A triumphant return

Hello internets,

I've been very eljay-adjacent lately, mainly because of work and the fact that our October issue is totally cursed. In the last couple of weeks, the cover has had to be entirely redone because the client didn't like it, our art director went to Florence and couldn't get back after her bag (and passport) were stolen, more than half ( Read more... )

Full of beans?

Also, I am sorry I never wrote you back about NYC-- the truth is, I really have not done my research yet (woe). You can look on my del.icio.us under travel + nyc, but I kind of doubt much of it will be of use. :( I expect a full report when you get back regardless!

*hugs*

Full of beans = energised. I think the US equivalent would be 'pep' :)

And don't worry, I've been getting tips from friends who are NY veterans. I'll email them to you, if you like. There will also be a NY-related post (probably tomorrow) before I leave on Thursday. So excited omg!

Ah! We haven't got that one. We would say, full of "vim and vigor," or maybe "raring to go," or something else that sounds completely hilarious and bizarre when you repeat it to yourself a few times.

NY veteran info! Oh, yes please! We have narrowed down some of what we want to do (art museums, Central Park, Chinatown) but that's as detailed as any of us have gotten-- I'd love to see any advice you've gotten! It should be a great time of year to go- for both of us- nice and cool and with some changing leaves. Yay I am so excited for you, I am sure you will have a blast. I forget, have you been to the States before? You'll have to come back sometime so I can give you a proper tour. :D

I have emailed you!

And I went to Florida with my family when I was 18, but that's it. So instead of specific NY info, a list of some American things I should encounter would be amazing - things like Sharpies and Junior mints that aren't available in the UK and that you love or think I'd like :)

Hi! Sorry to hear about your cursed issue! You seem to be in a positive mood regardless, though, which is good to hear. :) I am vaguely intrigued by the stencils. I mean, really? For every occasion?

Well, it's nearly over now. I was not so cheerful this time last week!

And yes. I'm not sure which of the five options would be best for, say, your gran's birthday. Or a job interview. Or taking the dog for a walk. I wonder if there's a leaflet in the box that recommends which shape to use when?

I certainly hope so - I mean, if you were new to the... fashion, then you would need a lot of guidance not to make some kind of terrible faux-pas! I mean, I'm quite sure that whatever is suggested for dinner and a movie is completely inappropriate for the gym!

(omg, you have to look in the box! I die of curiousity!)

It's a tricky situation, yes ma'am :)

(And omg I can't look in the box! The rest of the office will think I'm interested in getting a 'This way! arrow' or something. Teh horror! Teh shame!)

Hmm, now I can understand the silence. And, of course, the endless woe. Dearie me, it sounds most hectic in your office.

I don't like those five free stencils at all, no. I can't imagine discovering the "This Way! Arrow" on a lady without experiencing anything other than abject horror.

It was, but I'm still glad I'm working here. And the funny thing? The last two weeks have far been less hectic and stress-inducing than my tenure with Crazy Boss...

And definitely no. Personally, if a man needs a 'This way! arrow', I'd rather he wasn't there in the first place.

I would like a job that is hectic and scary, but in which one doesn't mind the scariness and...hectacity due to the enjoyment/achievement factor.

Now it seems that I have no excuse to get myself off my arse and get looking again.

If a woman thinks a "This Way! Arrow" is a good thing, then I'd rather not be in the second place.

I love the book too. Neil Gaiman rocks, is my general view.

And he was! He was going to have been Quintus, the prince who was killed in his sleep: http://www.neilgaiman.com/journal/2006/07/resolving-confusion.html

There would have been night-shirt!squee. It would have been brilliant.
