So, today was the first day of the rest of my life my new job. And it was... quite quiet. Almost everyone was out of the office, there wasn't a lot in to sub and the editor needed to make decisions about most of what there was. This is my friend E's little sister's final year project for her art degree: a life-sized red knitted Ferrari. It took her a year to make, and she used 12 miles of wool in the process. The exhibition will be in London from 30 June at Studio 95, the Old Truman Brewery. Go and see it!

I know that if I go anywhere near the Daily Mail website I will be struck with an attack of rage, but when I read about the reaction to a recent article on rape in the Guardian, I had to check it out for myself to see if they were exaggerating. And they really weren't.

The good news is that my long-awaited subbing test finally arrived. The bad news is that it's all hard copy, and involves a lot of cutting things to fit and moving sub-headings around so they're in the appropriate places.
