Cooties

Sometime around junior high, all my elemtary school friends became interested in skateboarding and pro wrestling. Being the the younger version of the slightly effeminate guy that I am now, this lead me to sort of reject teenage males as being stupid. I found I couldn't really relate to a large group of guys talking about "guy stuff." I found ( Read more... )

Umm, I really really do not want to start another Jimi Hendrix CD series of comments. If you feel like dedicating an entire evening to reading live journals, you can read the long post I made on March 20th and its 101 comments.

I'll agree with that. I have often wished that I could spontaneously switch genders.

That's like the bluegill fish. They can change their genders. See in a school of bluegill fish there is one "head" female and the rest are male. The female is larger than the rest and kind of bosses the other fishes around. (Dictates where they swim, what they eat, etc). All the males get to mate with her whenever they want. Then once she dies, the oldest male starts producing estrogen. He becomes bigger and bigger until he is female. Then ...now it's a she..has become the head female. And it keeps going in a cycle. Maybe you've found your calling, David.

Although I agree with you when you point out the general, drastic differences between same-sex (sex...he he he) interactions that are highlighted by puberty, I believe that taking every situation and catagorizing it with the above mentioned criteria is unfair; I believe every friendship--though it has a strong probability to turn out as a stereo-typical high school relationship/friendship--should be observed as unique. I have guy friends that are just as "positive and fun" if not more so than some of my friendships with girls ( ... )

Oh, friendships are a whole other boat. I think with real friendships that a person's character is far more important than gender. In fact, I hate generalizing people in terms of gender. What I was addressing was larger groups of people that are not necessarily close friends.

One on one relationships are crazy, confusing, and different for every set of people. I can't even pretend to make generalizations for them.

I think you did make sense.

Do any of us really spend enough time in Locker Rooms for that to constitute making that list? Any negative locker room experiences you've had, D. Mack?

Sadly, I have no juicy stories besides the general idiocy that we all here, "Oh, that is gay!" "Go fuck your mom!" etc. etc.

In sixth grade I did switch from briefs to boxers for the sole reason that I knew kids would make fun of briefs in the locker rooms. Right decision, wrong reason.
