Incredible! Everything I expected from your brilliance AND MORE!
I love Jensen's deduction and self-introspection, the slow burn of his attraction and the realization. I love Misha, his poetry and his ASTOUNDINGLY cute wit :D
BUT BUT BUT I LOVE LOVE LOVE JARED PUPPY PADALECKI! Oh he is so awesome here!
Yay! I'm so glad it measured up. It treads a bit closer to the schmoop line than I'm used to, so I'm glad it came off well.
I always find Misha equal parts adorable and infuriating. This Jensen would certainly agree :)
Have to have some Awesome!Jared. He gets left out so often, and I adore him so. I have a sort of timestamp from his POV brewing in the back of my head if I ever write it.
This is wonderful. The prose and the story and Jensen's voice are like bourbon whiskey, slow smooth burn with a wonderfully satisfied and sated finish.
I honestly expected something light-hearted and fluffy from the description, so this whole story was a pleasent surprise. I could probably go one in prose about the things I loved in this, but it wouldn't be very good.
I really enjoyed the slow build up of the story, and how Jensen came to grips with his thoughts and feelings. Misha was wonderfully characterized as well.
Mostly, though, I'm in awe of your writing style. Despite the volume of words per sentence and the abundance of commas, it's so far from wordy I find it hard to believe. Instead of narrative, it's as though I'm looking at a series of beautifully detailed paintings. The words just flow effortlessly.
I'm looking forward to making my way through some of your other work.
It was so difficult to summarize, honestly. On the one hand, the concept is completely clear cut. But that's not exactly what it is. I set out to reshape a typical romcom plot into something better suited to my tastes, so I suppose the relative lack of true fluff is a selfish thing.
Thank you so much!
I have to smile because I've never had someone comment my process back to me. I'm a visual learner/communicator at heart - more filmmaker than truly literary. It's odd that you would say this unfolds like a series of paintings, because I actually work backwards from the movie I produce in my head. Sometimes the words are cooperative. Sometimes they aren't.
That was beautiful. One hell of a read, I could barely concentrate in class when I had to leave before I could finish this. I can't even pinpoint what I loved the most because every single sentence radiates awesomeness.
If this was a book, I'd buy two copies, one for reading, one for back-up if God forbid I lost the first one.
I am so glad this fic managed to wiggle its way into existence, because it is wonderful. I love how you keep such a tight pov - it puts you right in Jensen's head and keeps you there until you really understand how he ticks. And it has the benefit of leaving everyone else's thoughts murky and unpredictable. I was honestly surprised when it turned out to have been a prank gone to far, because it hit that point where Jensen was believing it was sincere so I believed it was sincere. I think I was almost more let down than Jensen when that bit was revealed. Luckily he was feeling forgiving and it all worked out. ;)
As always, you just have this knack for making your characters feel real. It's my favorite thing about reading any of your stories, and this one was no exception.
And wiggle it did. Man, sometimes I thought it was going to wiggle up, wrap around my neck, and squeeze. Thank you! I'm partial to a tight POV, as you well know and in this case I was being a bit dastardly. I kept wanting to smack Jensen for overlooking what was right in front of his nose. Anyway, I always intended for the verses/cranes themselves to be a prank that gets mistaken for something more by both boys even though Jensen didn't realize that. :)
