For anyone following the finger saga, I think the nerves are regrowing. My finger hurts, LOL! The extensor tendon is never going to tighten up without additional surgical intervention, but I haven't lost that much real use of the finger. The pin is pulled, the finger is stiff, swollen and sore. I'd like to know how long to expect it to stay that way. The surgeon seems to think I should have most of the feeling in it back within six months. Right now I have almost no movement in the DIP joint and the PIP joint is very stiff but if I work it I can approximate a fist. It looks ( Read more... )

follow up appt this am. tumor ate my tendon. the pin is to hold the small strip that's left and make it scar. my finger looks like hell. swollen and blistered. dr says that's not good. stay off your feet, more ice. so instead of going into work i went home and have my hand elevated with ice on it. yes i cried about it but it's the first time I ( Read more... )

Met a girl at Sprouts yesterday who had the same kind of tumor removed from her pinky finger. Hers was growing back. She had nerve damage and a huge scar from the first time. She has no insurance and didn't qualify for AHCCCS when she applied. I told her the amputation story the surgeon told me because she really should get her finger taken ( Read more... )

Hand: in a splint and wrapped like a club. Tendon was damaged so they put a pin in it. If it heals right I will have some use of my finger. Unknown how much.

I finally went to a hand surgeon about my left index finger. He asked what we were looking at and I put my hand on the table and he went, "Ack!" (I think that's a bad sign.)
