my life is a total shitshow right now.

just spent all day driving around nyc and moving crap into my fourth floor walk-up. am somehow, improbably, still alive. will write more on this later.

also, just realized that the fact that the chinese food place downstairs sells onion rings means i can eat onion rings basically WHENEVER I WANT. for $1.50. this will be the making of me.

A friend (two friends) are leaving town tomorrow, and i'm not sure how to feel. they weren't close friends - we didn't share hopes and dreams, and in fact had more awkward encounters than affirmative ones. but my friends are moving away. how does one build a community in such a transient environment? in nyc, we are tricked into this idea of ( Read more... )

my first night coming back slightly (slightly) drunk to the new apartment. i think it is officially home now. i move the rest of my stuff in on saturday - i rented a uhaul van to move it all, and feel like a big queer, albeit a lonely queer, as thus far i am doing it by myself.

it's late. i go out to the corner store for something cold - a soda, maybe, a popsicle. a girl is sitting out on her stoop. at the end of the short street i see the elevated train rumble past, its well-lit windows winking at me. when it is gone, i notice the brownstones, the duplexes, the townhouses that make up my little block. i pass two women on ( Read more... )
