"Dancing in the Shower," Prompt: "The Better Half" for RLJ Idol Community

There's the crappy half, that is certain. There are the moments when she's crying and I moan a little because that certain cry over the monitor means I have to drag myself out of my nice mattress with a box spring into her room. In her room, I have to lay with her on a narrow single thin foam mattress on the floor and hold her while she settles ( Read more... )

Thanks. I know that there are many Idol contenders who don't have kids, some by choice, so I hope people still like this entry.

But I was REALLY trying to do a more "sunny" entry, I tend to someone who gives too many depressing entries and I'm trying to change that.

Thanks so much for commenting!:)

Every time I look at your girls, I do a double take, because I think they are twins. They really look so much alike. I liked this entry, too! Nice job. Your childrens' joy really comes through.

I hope the joy comes through. And in an interesting way, perhaps? I love my kids but, I do realize, a mom going on and on about her kids can be boring to others.

My girls DO look like twins but they are not and were born (conceieved naturally so no, not twin eggs born at dif times) almost 3 years apart so just sisters who look VERY alike.

I'm very glad you like this entry. Most of my entries seem different from each other (to me) so I hope people keep reading each week:)

I liked this entry a lot. I don't have kids, but want to someday. I am glad to read something with a positive spin to it. And your kids are cute by the way :)

There is always some positives in life if I will look for them:)

Thanks for your feedback. There are so many great writers in Idol, I always look forward to your entries too. I keep meaning to ask, is this icon you? Your eyes are such an amazing color!

Nope, not me. You aren't the first to ask, but it is actually not a real person at all but digtal art of some sort, so no one could look just like that....though I wish. I love dark hair and pale skin with light eyes...

And thank you! I have no clue what to write this week!

What a beautiful family! (including the puppy!)
They are precious and the time goes by soooo fast. Then they are almost 17 and 20 like mine are!
(and my cat is 13!)

My sister is expecting her first in less than a month and it seems like just yesterday that I was too..but he will be 9 in April.

The days can be long but the years are very short, that's true.

So you have a junior or senior in high school and one in college?

My high school Jr. daughter will be 17 in 3 weeks. My College Soph daughter at Ohio Univ is 20. Times sure does fly.

I liked how you alternated between the parts of parenthood you don't like and the parts that you do. A lot of times I feel like people blogging about parenting miss that balance.

Well, I can't tell if you think people complain too much or go on and on about how wonderful it is to have kids.

I am glad I am a mom but I won't lie and say it's "a constant joy." Overall, I love my kids but parenting IS a lot of hard work. It takes a lot of commitment to be a parent because you have to show up every day even when you really want time to yourself.

Like most people in most areas of our life, I sometimes wish parenting could just be the better half, the fun moments, but I guess you have to put in the hard work to earn them:)

Thanks so much for being such a faithful commenter!

Well, that's because I meant both. I see either people who complain endlessly or people who blather about the constant joy. ;)

Sometimes it's refreshing to see an honest and balanced perspective. Everything would be more pleasurable if we only had the "better half" but life doesn't seem to work that way. And I suppose there is value in having the comparison.

You're welcome! I like taking the time to comment and attempt a little interaction with people. It makes the competition a lot more enjoyable!

The interaction is fun..but also makes it sadder when people get eliminated:(

I guess there is always the home game.

Either way, it IS fun to get to know the contestants better, no matter the outcome.
