That was absolutely terrifying to read. I don't blame you for leaving the phone either! I would have done the same. I'd want to call 911 but also not leave the other person out of my sight!

The operator kept INSISTING that I not put the phone down, she said the best way to help him was to stay on the line and answer her questions about directions, past medical history etc.

I understood her point but with the call dragging on so long, I HAD to check on him. It didn't seem like she understood, when you think someone you care about is DYING, it is hard not be able to at least see them.

We now have cordless phones, I'm glad.

-nods- yes, that's true it would be the most help but I wouldn't be able to think that straight, I'd want to be clinging to the loved one! Thank God for cordless and cell phones indeed.

The dialogue was awesome...really moved the story along...What a mess having to run from the phone to the hubby for so long...I thought they could trace calls and find the source of the call fast. Musta been a long time ago when this happened? Scary! I did feel that in your writing. Yeah...You could add more details about Bob, (looks, traits, etc.), but the feelings part is great. P.

Thanks for your views. I will keep working (as I understand, we can "polish" until the deadline) on giving more details about my husband.

I appreciate your perspective. I knew this was missing something.

I always thought they could trace calls too? Somehow the driver got loss. We were actually 612 A (a rental house BEHIND a house that was 612) but over and over, I described how you had to take the 612 driveway and what our house looked like etc.

This happened a little over 11 years ago. It was Nov of 1998.

The moments were terrifying since I didn't know what was going on. The ulcers took about month to heal (if I remember right) but, yes, I am glad our story didn't end right there. We went on to then have our 3 children.

It took him almost a month to heal but he finally got completely well in that area.

Thanks for being so faithful to comment! It's great to hear others' reactions to what I write!:)
