Title: Follow Without Pride Author: Aria Pairing: Fraser/Kowalski Rating: PG Word Count: 4899 Summary: In which Diefenbaker chases a car, Ray buys a stuffed penguin, and Fraser gets a clue.
"Yes you are," Ray interrupted, with such quiet intensity that Fraser stared at him in astonishment. Ray was still watching the road. "You could've made something up, but you didn't. You just -- backed off and didn't say anything, and it was up to me, but if it's up to me -- if it's up to me I'm not gonna do it. I'm tired of making things up and chasing ... I've done this road before, Frase, so either we're going to do this thing or you're telling me right now, for good, that we're not, and I will drop it, it'll be done."
OH RAY. HIS LITTLE TINY BREAKABLE DELICATE HEART. I love EVERYTHING about that speech bubble - everything about that whole conversation, actually. It's like breakup-makeup (my favourite genre ever) pre-actual-relationship! AMAZING.
:DDD! I love that you used the phrase "speech bubble" there, actually, because now I'm picturing that scene as a painfully earnest cartoon. Ray's tiny breakable delicate heart gets its own panel!
I have mentioned that I have a theory that Fraser falls in love with people if they risk their lives for him, right? Jumping in front of bullets is exactly the sort of thing Ray should be doing!
I think I love writing Dief, so I'm delighted you loved him. :D
So sweet! I love that they have the time, and the trust, to correct that mistake of "it's done." "There was no obligation here, no atonement" -- and no game-playing; they're on solid ground with each other and can change their minds.

Ray repaid the willingness in like kind, risk for risk. It was, as Ray said, a serious something.
Oh, Fraser. &hearts So Ray has to jump in front of a bullet for you again before you'll commit to a relationship.
Also, I love your Dief.
