The perpetually charming Daf recently made me lunch. It consisted of pasta and other bits, and so I'm going to try to remember what the other bits were, as they were really rather good.

I *think* it was: garlic, oil, chilis, lemon zest, and grated goat's cheese. Quam dilecta.

As promised, I did in fact attempt Salmon Fillet en Papillote with Julienne Vegetable, from the Good Eats episode "The Pouch Principle,", and it was amazing. stelic's comment was, "It looks like restaurant food." I agreed, although a chef would probably have plated it more elegantly:

Take a good-size tortilla. Smear it with hummus -- I tend to use the stuff from a box, rather than making my own. (A tidbit from my history of hummus: I tried making it once in college. It gunked up the blender and then I forgot to clean it and then I was AFRAID to clean it because it had gone fuzzy and sentient, so I had to pitch the blender. ( Read more... )

Yesterday was Labor Day in the US, and because it was a Monday holiday, there was a Sunday shift at the newspaper. And because we don't do Sunday shifts very often, we usually have some sort of potluck dinner to liven up the day.
