Oh boy did I learn a lot teaching at PSU this term. Still it was a strong and promising start, I hope there's enough depth to keep this level of quality going. The last week of July, I taught at the "Woodwinds at Wallowa Lake" session in Eastern Oregon for the third year. As usual, it was a ton of fun, and rewarding. The bassoon studio performed highlights from Prokofiev's "Romeo and Juliet," and were great. My sister was on faculty this year also, which was awesome. So I got to see her a bit as well. There is a lot to write, as always, and I'll play catch-up later. I was just in NYC for the week, auditioned for the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. It went well, but no luck. Anyway, I didn't really want the job, it was for fun - and it was. Also saw old friends and ate good food. Back in PDX. Tired and disoriented.

I'm so behind in all of this that nothing that I know I should write about seems relevant anymore... but I still feel like I have to, if only because I like having a record of life. I think this is partially because I don't have a very good memory sometimes, and I worry that I'll forget who I am or where I've been.
