I wanted to jump on my seat and cheer at the Ron moments.

I have never been so proud.

I actually lost count of how many times I said "Kaitlynn hearts Ron" during that movie. Srsly. It was so good.

Didn't like that they'd made Cho the sneak, and I'm sad that Weasley is our King got left out due to lack of Quidditch (I saw one girl with that written on her arm, and another with a T-Shirt that said "I suffer from Umbridgitis"), but they made up for it by making Ron pretty much awesome in every other way. I am now totally enchanted by Rupert Grint as Ron, when I was unconvinced at first. Now that the script is finally right for Ron, so is Rupert. YAY times a million.

And, yeah, pretty much what you said, only in all caps. :D

Did we see the same movie?? As a movie, it was WONDERFUL (I do agree with ALL your above statements)...but...as an adaptation, no. Maybe it was being up for 21 hours, maybe cause I was with a boy who asked to go to the movies with me (read NERVOUS), maybe a lot of things, but I was so disappointed. They BUTCHERED the book. Yes I know that they couldn't possibly include every fav scene (why NOT have the prefects or the SNEEK or the Christmas perfume or Lily ordering James to put Severus down???), but to take dialogue from one scene and put it in another scene??? (ie. the twins announcing their escape in front of just Umbridge and Harry - I would have been PISSED if they wouldn't have flown over a group of cheering kids. And it made me furious that we didn't get to see the spinning room and Ron not getting to try to open the Love Mystery room- but have them fight in the room of prophesies??) Anyway, I guess being my second fav book and most read, I am a strict purist and should just get over it, but still. I can't count how ( ... )

I'm glad you enjoyed it! I can see how it was very enjoyable to so many. I think that I'm really going to have to go see it again, knowing the plot so that I don't spend my time anticipating events that didn't occur. The HP movies always tend to grow on me the second time around.

I agree on most points. However I still really disliked making Cho the sneak and having the veritaserum be the cause... because Harry knew that's what happened and therefore he really had no justification for abandoning Cho the way he did. I mean, I understand why they did it... well, wait, no I guess i don't. :-/

I was upset that the "lucky you" moment wasn't in the film. My favorite scene in OotP... gone. But I loved the bit on the bridge where Hermione says something like, "Well, at least Cho was looking at you" or something like that and Ginny's face in the background just goes flat. It was subtle and perfect.

I also loved how they showed what an exceptional witch Ginny is with her being the first one to produce a fully formed patronus and her amazing reducto!

There were other things that I loved/didn't love, but I went to the midnight premiere so my memory is a bit hazy. :P Must see again. :D

because Harry knew that's what happened and therefore he really had no justification for abandoning Cho the way he did.

Except he didn't. . . not until Umbridge's office. It was implied that she'd done it of her own free will up till then.

Yeah, and when Umbridge mentioned using Veritaserum on Cho, they showed Harry with a sad, understanding look on his face. I imagine that in HBP it will simply be understood that Harry and Cho weren't right for each other. *shrugs*

Cho went to Umbridge's office on her own free will? (I haven't seen the movie yet, but spoilers don't bother me because I know the book pretty well) Then Harry was completely justified in abandoning her. That's why I had no sympathy whatsoever for Marietta Edgecombe. She betrayed her friends to Umbridge of all people.
