For the past year or so, I've felt so lonely for fandom. I miss the excitement of Harry Potter and LotR releases. I miss writing fanfiction. I just miss it all. And it's not like I'm not a fan of things anymore... I still love those things, and new ones besides (The Office, Twilight, etc.). But I'm just not "into" those fandoms ( Read more... )

I miss the excitement of Harry Potter too. *Hugs* But people were bound to move on.

Still, I think it's sad when the HBP trailer was out and about two people on my flist of about 100 Harry Potter fans mentioned it. About the same amount of people have mentioned the Beedle the Bard book.

It's so weird that you say that, because I just watched the HBP trailer for the first time when you posted this comment. It looks so good! And I can't wait for Beedle.

yeah i do. i just don't think anything else like HP or LOTR will come along in my lifetime. that was special. plus i've just moved on in my life. so i miss fandom but in a nostalgic way. i don't think i'd even want something to replace it.

Absolutely! I am online a little less than I used to be, but I was so into fanfiction and debate. I guess I stayed in it a little longer than most, but for me it was kinda over when the 13 and 14-year-olds crushing on OMGZ KEWT BOYZ took over, whether it was Orlando Bloom or Dan Radcliffe. I mean, I'm not that much older than they are/were, and I'm not saying I don't harbor harmless crushes on celebrities...but still. I guess when it became REALLY big, there were all these people I didn't know who loved it because it was a fad, not because it spoke to them in any particular way.

I wish something like that could spark me again, but I just haven't found it yet.

I miss it all the time. mostly because I miss the people. I miss the way we used to squeefully write fanfic and talk to each other on aim while cheering each other on to write porn.I know. I mean, I have to say I was never into writing porn, but I'd IM friends and we'd squee over even the really silly stuff ( ... )
