A young boy went to his mother one evening, frustrated with how his life was taking shape. He inquired to her, what is my purpose in life? Why is life so demanding to me? How will I ever make due ( Read more... )

SWEET MERCIFUL CRAP WOULD PEOPLE STOP IT WITH THE FOOD METAPHORS

I suppose that to some degree people can choose whether or not to be a carrot or an egg, but everyone's a coffee bean. You stick all three ingredients into the same pot and everything will be dyed by the coffee. Even the pot itself will be stained.

Everyone changes who we are. It may be something small, like walking past someone wearing a particular outfit that makes you wonder if you could look good wearing something like that. It may be something more significant, like - and I'm just guessing here - whoever it was that made the decision that resulted in us being stuck in this city.

The only thing we can decide is the degree of change people inspire in us. Whether we're like the carrot and get changed to our very core, or like the egg and are only affected on the outermost layers, that is up to us ( ... )

I wasn't looking at it that way.

Before the mother boiled it, the coffee bean was carefully handled while the manufacturers had it dried, sorted, and roasted. Without these, I don't think that it would have the same effect that it did when it was boiled along with the carrot and the egg.

It is not worth explaining then. The concept behind it wasn't that difficult.

Then that is something we share. I dislike coffee as well.

I consider myself more of a coffee bean, even though my mentor raised me as a.. well.. an egg, I suppose.

I have always been a tea person.

Understandable. I hope mine would be, too.
