What a gorgeous story. You found just the right note of melancholy and bittersweet hope through blending canon with the AU aspects. The idea of Sam becoming Dean's God... I'm trying to get my head around that and find a way to articulate all of the reasons it seems right but the words are failing me.
Thanks for the great feedback - and I'm sorry this is such an embarrassingly late reply. "Bittersweet hope" is a lovely way of putting it, and I'm really glad the god!Sam worked too - I'm not sure I could put it into words either (well, besides the fic itself) but these characters are strange and go to strange places :)
I had to start this twice (both for reasons unrelated to the story), and am pleased to report that upon finally finishing 'Perpetual', I am quite blown away.
I've never seen the source of the fusion, though I have studied some of the metaphors, allegory and allusions. Your story definitely provides all of the necessary chewy concepts (the multilayered puns inherent in Sam as the dog God just slay me) about reality, faith and perception.
I am in awe of the world building. just a stroke here and there, a considered extrapolation and I am free to fully visualize it. Doesn't hurt that I have been researching global warming for a scifi story for a while now. I really appreciate it

Wow, thanks for the amazing, thoughtful feedback! I know all about starting stories multiple times, so I'm glad this finally paid off for you :) Similarly, this reply is much too late, but I hope you forgive me.
The film really sparks thinky thoughts, so I think you'd like it. Or maybe the short story it was based on? I'm very happy that you liked Sam's story here, and that the ending made sense (and the rest of it too). I like to throw all kinds of things in and I'm glad you found it more chewy than messy. It was definitely fun and freeing to write. Thank you thank you, YOU are awesome :)
I think I've been blubbering like a baby this entire chapter. AI as a movie already was sad and this...just this ;A;
It kinda hurts me deep down inside (in a good way) and the concept of time is crafted so well. It is one of those concepts that kill me for the fandom--that inevitably, Castiel is going to outlive them all and just all the waiting. I also felt a bittersweet pain when they slept together for the first time and how Cas went through his 'it's Dean but not' internal angst. I'm so glad they were together in the end, even if it still makes me well up thinking about it.
Awww, thank you! The movie makes me cry too but it's beautiful and I watch it over and over again. I'm so glad the love scenes and the time framing worked for you too. Thanks so much!
I had been holding it together pretty well until those last few lines....tears. TEARS ON MY FACE. safkjhsafjh this fic is mind-blowing, the atmosphere you created is incredible and your writing style is amazing. ALL THE PRAISE ♥ :))
