Six days after my grandma passed away, I drove my mom to the ER because she was coughing so much she couldn't breathe and was doubled over in pain and thought she was having a heart attack.
Ended up being very, very bad bronchitis and she needed a nebulizer/inhaler to help her breathe and some steroids to bring down the inflammation.

My beautiful, strong, sweet grandma just died.
I know she's in a far better place and is no longer riddled with dementia but she's the only grandparent I ever felt really close to and that I ever really loved like a kid loves their grandparent and I selfishly don't want her to be gone.
But she is. :-(

I turned down the Belgium role today.
Feeling a sense of relief combined with a sense of angst that it was the wrong decision. I don't think it was, but how can I be sure????

Next house I buy, I'm going to pay someone to do it all for me. Ridiculous. How do they expect people to get all of this done in the middle of the day when said people have jobs? I have meetings solid from 8am-5pm every day almost. I don't have time to sit on the phone and talk to appraisers and realtors and inspectors and banks and all that crap. ( Read more... ) -

While I completely disagree with the hatred spewed in this blog toward women who opt to stay at home and raise their families, I do think there is an element of truth underlying her very apparent bitterness.
As society, particularly here in the more conservative Midwest, have taught our daughters is the only things worth celebrating in life ( Read more... ) -

When I was a kid, we had a dog that froze to death in the winter. She went out into the snow (was a barn dog, not an inside dog) and apparently laid down in the snow and died. We found her frozen several days later when the snow melted some. I never really understood how that happened except that she was old and thought maybe she got lost and ( Read more... ) -

It's been a very long time since I've closed down a bar with friends. But it certainly was fun and something I needed after the last several days. I need a nap now, though. Going to sleep at 4 and waking up at 8 is not recommended.

The more I get away and have to go back, the more I really dislike Indiana. So little culture, diversity of thought or people. The food is bland and boring. The most interesting place to go is the canal downtown.
I need to get out.
