Mom was the 5th of 7 kids. For various reasons she wasn't close to her siblings, and as a consequence, I'm not close to my cousins. Still, I'm friended to several of Facebook, though many of them grew up in the small rural town my Mom left, and the conservatism of their political posts generally make me cringe.

I saw Venom: Let There Be Carnage yesterday. I enjoyed it, though it's not without flaws. I've become very fond of the Eddie/Venom relationship. It's a good big screen movie, for anyone who is venturing out.
There is an easter egg scene after the main credits, but that's it. Don't wait through all the long credits until the bitter end ( Read more... ) -

I perhaps have a new cat. There was a frantic meowing on my back patio yesterday, by a cat I thought was my orange tabby. Then looked back and realized my orange tabby was standing in the doorway, staring at the interloper. So I invited clearly hungry kitty in, and ended up giving him a can and a half for lunch. If anyone read my last post before I realized what I'd done and fixed it, I meant to say that the recent Suicide Squad is gratuitously violent and gory and I do not recommend it, not Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. I thought 'James Gunn' and came up with the wrong movie; I do that sometimes.

I watched the last 3 episodes of What If tonight, and they all felt like...What if bleak things happened to characters you love and lots of them died? I'm hoping the next few will be more upbeat.

We had some cooler weather with decent air quality for a few days, so I pulled everything out of one room and repainted it. For the first time I strayed away from variations of white, painting it a nice pale blue. I got rid of a bookcase while moving things around, and am making myself purge as I put things away. We're back from seeing Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Two thumbs up, very exciting action movie. Like Free Guy, that's another I'd recommend seeing big screen, if your local covid rates and comfort level allows.

We watched the new Amazon Prime version of Cinderella tonight, and I think my sister and I enjoyed it more than her kids. It was a musical, yet mostly using existing rock songs, and sis and I were cracking up at some of the choices being so weirdly perfect. I said goodbye to the cat I was still calling new cat on Monday. He was 16 years old, very sick and losing weight. I hate making that decision, the 5th time was not any easier than the 1st. I keep thinking about Data's quote on friendship and about his neural pathways getting accustomed to someone's presence and missing it when gone.
