I inserted my first two IVs today, on coworkers that volunteered their veins. I didn't think I could be that anxious about anything other than mortal danger, but I was. I got to watch (and assist with) an impromptu debridement today. Our patient had a DVT (deep-venous thrombosis, aka a blood clot) in her left leg that she had gotten surgery for.
