Birthday weekend.
I've had absolutely the most wonderful birthday weekend I've had in the past few years. A new home.
I was offered a job today. The position is for 9th grade pre-AP English at a science/engineering magnet school in Dallas. One of the best magnet schools, actually. So of course I said yes! Job interview!
I have a job interview on Monday, and I'm really excited. It's for a high school English teacher, which is what I want. Now, it's a low-performing school. However, that doesn't bother me. I've been working in low-performing schools since I became interested in teaching and I'd much rather work there than some white-bred, snotty school ( Read more... ) -
Update.
I forgot to mention that I didn't get the daytime program like I wanted from DISD. They offered me the nightime program, which has no guarantee of a job come this August. I was really, really disappointed when I got the letter. However, I went to an information session last Thursday, and came out of it feeling a lot better about the whole deal ( Read more... ) -
Just a warm body.
I truly think they need me at this school to fill in as a warm body. Here I was all mad that they assigned me to the 9th grade math class, when I haven't taken algebra since high school. Get ready for some baseball!
My dad and I are going to a Rangers game a week from today. Texas Rangers v. Boston Red Sox!! I got great seats, too!! Lower level! Third base! I decided it would be part of his birthday gift and something for just me and him to do together. I'm excited! Gimme some baseball!! -
Small pleasures
I just got the most satisfying pleasure from bathing in pink bath water. My mom gave me some "bath fizzies" for Valentine's day and I finally got a chance to use one this evening. It turned my water a pleasant pink color. I loved it. And then it occured to me how easy I am to please if pink bath water is the highlight of my evening ( Read more... ) -

I had my DISD interview today. I felt like a lying sack of sludge when I told my supervisor that I was leaving for a doctor's appointment. However, I have no obligation toward them. I wish taser guns were legal
My fifth graders are so absolutely horrid that the teachers have passed around an e-mail informing everyone to crack down on them. They are ridiculous. They make me wish that I could bring a taser to school and zap them when they act up ( Read more... )
