I stayed at work until 5:30 or 6:00pm every night this week. My classroom no longer looks like a warehouse, and there are places for the students to sit, but very little is up on the walls, and there are boxes in the corner under a tablecloth. Changing classrooms is a major pain!

Planning a class trip to the zoo! Just have to submit the paperwork.

Julian and I found out that the student that was feeding Smanther (Panther's brother) moved away and no one was feeding him! So we caught him and luckily our neighbor wanted a playmate for her kitten. The only downside is that Julian got a bunch of scratches and had to get a rabies shot.

Panther the kitten is so precious. The vet said that she will always be small, a "mini-cat."

The first week back at school was exhausting, but my classroom is looking ready for students to walk in on Tuesday!

Summer vacation is wonderful. It's good that I have lots of free time right now, because Julian and I found a stray kitten two weeks ago. We caught her after a week of feeding, and now she is at my house and I am slowly but surely getting her used to living with people. One of my students and her two siblings have tested positive for a sub type of swine flu. Now I'm more of a hand-washing phanatic than ever (ok, I got to phan- and realized that outside of the Phillies context, it's supposed to be FANatic, but, hey, there it is).

Yesterday I saw the movie Pressure Cooker with my mom at the Ritz Bourse. I had forgotten what I read about it and was about to get up and leave after the credits, but the film makers and documentary subjects were there to answer questions, as they will be at various screenings this weekend. On the first leg of my journey home, the bus stopped to let a passenger in a wheelchair off, but the second of the two straps wouldn't unbuckle. The driver was tugging at it from all different angles for a long time, but it was still stuck. I had a nightmare about lice a week or so ago...there are frequent outbreaks in my classroom. Then swine flu seemed to be the thing to worry about. The laryngitis I now have took me by surprise...but I consider myself lucky. Out of the three, it's the least offensive.
