It's been a month since I last updated and *tons* of things have happened since then. Ergo, this will be a big update, but I'll try to keep it concise. In a nutshell, I had one of the best summers ever this year!!! I totally did not want it to end, but alas, you know what they say about all good things.... Off to the update:

My friend, Liz, and I headed down to the teacher appreciation sale at Scholar's Choice yesterday morning. The store opens at 10 a.m. and the deal is that if you have a teacher membership, you get 20% off every item you buy that day. We were down at the store by 9:30 a.m. and ohmygod! it was TEH CRAZY!!! ....a paper shredder! I have quite a bit of shredding to do (student records, etc.) so I caved and bought one. Not the most exciting purchase, but there it is! The dinner with Chris fell through tonight. He has to go to an emergency meeting with his group for their Anthropology class presentation tomorrow. A few hours after that, Liz called to tell me that she is staying overnight at her sister's tonight and will be at her sister's for the day tomorrow. My former associate teacher sent me an e-mail last night to let me know she is coming in to the school today to pack up the rest of the stuff which belongs to the teacher I took over for. Had one this morning for a Grade 5/6 class. It's permanent, so I went ahead with the interview even though I don't think I'm too gung-ho about teaching Grades 5/6. Okay, I feel really rotten and selfish for *griping* about getting an interview for a permanent position, but... I don't know, I just feel like I sorta can handle the little ones ( Read more... )

The family celebrated my birthday last night (Sunday) with dinner at Chagall's. The food was soooo good! I also got some pretty "nifty" birthday presents this year:
