Robert was stretched vertically on his couch when he decided to give Alan a call. The room was a little warm from the early May sun and he planned to open up a window to let the air circulate as soon as he was through with his call. He was greeted by a trio of coughs. "Alan?"

"Sorry, love." Alan sounded horrible and on the verge of coughing again. "Spent the whole day trying not to hack up me lungs."

Robert winced. "Flu?"

Alan made a non-committal noise that was halfway between a verbal shrug and a groan.

"Is there anything I can do?"

"Just talk...give me something else to think about."

"Well, the reason I’m calling--My last interview is in four days, the day after the season five finale of House goes to air. After that, I am all yours!"

"Wonderful news," Alan paused to cough, "and I wish I had the energy to let you know how thrilled I am."

"Plenty of time for that after I arrive."

This time, the noise out of Alan's mouth couldn't be mistaken for anything other than pleased.

"Hope you aren't being kept out of work?"

"Uugh. QI. Stephen wants me to show up anyways, even if it is to just let me sleep through the show. Be worth a laugh, he says. Bloody bastard." Alan coughed again. "I plan to drug meself up to the gills so I won't have to remember any of it." A cough cut him off and he groaned once the fit was over.

"Shall I leave you to go back to bed?"

"Already there. Feels like all've been doing's sleeping," he mumbled.

"Sounds like you could use more sleep."

"Yeah, yeah, yeah." Alan sighed. "Sorry, love."

"You don't need to apologize. So, when do you want me?"

"Yesterday."

Robert laughed. "How about next Wednesday if I can get a flight? Eight days?"

"This nasty cold should be gone and I will be more than ready."

"That denies me the chance to nurse you back to health."

"You the doctor and me the patient...We haven't tried role playing yet...sounds good..."

"Alan, what drugs are you taking?"

"Not enough. I'm still miserable."

Robert swung his legs down to the floor and finally sat up from his reclining position. "I’ll make the reservation right now." Robert sat at his computer to book the flight. "I'll send you the conformation information when I am done."

"M'k."

"Seriously, get some more sleep. I'll talk to you later on this week to make sure you are alive before I make the flight."

"Sure sign of love right there."

Robert smiled. "I love you, Alan. Please take care of yourself, and I will see you soon."

"G'night, love."

Robert listened for a few extra seconds before clicking off the phone and setting it next to him. If it weren't for all the damned interviews, he would be in London right now. He sighed and looked back at the computer, picking his way around the keys to book his reservation.
