Why do bad things happen to good people?

I really don't know what's up with God this week but it's been a tough week. On Friday, the mother of one of my good friends had a cerebral aneurysm. She was flown to Dallas where she underwent endovascular coiling of a ruptured intercranial aneurysm using a platinum coil. From what I understand, it was a near thing. I think that taking a few days off to go visit your friends would be a very good thing for both you and them. Med school is important and all, but it's not everything.

I appreciate the feedback. My friend's dad ("R") is being discharged to home today, and he's getting the port for his chemo tomorrow. I'm going to go up this weekend to visit because you never know...I mean, I was supposed to visit them this past Thanksgiving but it didn't work out, and now I'm kicking myself.
