I finally got around to buying some plants for my garden. Largely prompted by some posh woman picking up the clematis I was ogling, which made me go 'Noo! I was buying that!', and thus having to buy it. I want to just write and not read at the moment, so not adding any friends.

I just gave £50 to Oxfam for my Dad's birthday, to support their appeal in Darfur. That's more money than I would have spent on him if I'd bought him a gift, but it's an infinitesimal amount compared to what will make a real difference to the people there. Berlin is continuing to rock.

A 'den of chilled liquidity' (this was a 'frumptious'* soup bar serving Thai soup with shiitake mushrooms) and Dussmann, a gigantic bookshop of doom, with a huge early music section.

My talk is done; tonight we go in search of a tranny bar.

Berlin is fabulous. I'd forgotten what being in a big city was like, to be honest. I hate London (although it's just about bearable as a day trip from Sussex), and while I've had some good times in Glasgow, I've never spent extended periods of time there ( Read more... )
