Alphonse stood on the stage, looking out at the other passengers in the audience. He looked to the side, but no one was there. Was Buguese going to come through for him? Sighing into the microphone, some feedback could be heard and he nearly dropped it.

Buguese walked into the room. True, he had no intention of participating, which he'd already said to his roommate, but he hoped to make that clear.

"Hello," he said, approaching him. "You do understand I will not be joining you?"

Though the words stung him, he tried to maintain a smile on his face. "I just thought you might change your mind." Alphonse replied. "You could still do it if you want to."

Standing off to a side of the room, not wanting to take the stage, Karkat wondered what all this useless drivel was even for. Hell, he didn't even know who his "roommate" was. What a waste of fucking time.

Of course, he had taken a look at the music for this song he was "supposed" to sing. God, Earth romance movies were absolute shit. This song was terrible in comparison to an astounding Alternian movie it reminded him of, called A Movie In Which An Asshole Of A Prince Is Cursed To Look Like A Hideous Beast Until He Can Learn To Love. The Rest Of His Servants, As Well As His Castle, Were Also-- you know what? The title wasn't that important. What is important is the fact that the Earth equivalent to this movie is absolute shit.

When Mamimi's name had been called, she had been promptly ushered onto the stage. As she saw Karkat there, she remembered how badly he had treated her. Thus she put on an unhappy expression, trying not to look directly at him.

Oh god. Oh fucking god, not this pathetic wriggler. Karkat didn't give a damn about winning, but it's hard to be furious at this idiotic competition when he was already substantially angry at this idiotic monkey.

Gothel brushed aside her curled hair and took the stage. She hadn't put much effort into preparing for this, but that was because she didn't need to. If the people here wanted her to doll up and sing, she had no problem fixing her dress, clearing her throat and doing just that.

Besides, she could use a little reputation to cash in on later if she needed any favors. The only question was whether or not her adorable little roommate could keep up with her.

Gothel's "adorable little roommate" was more than prepared for this. He had even gone so far as to take his favorite (and, well, his only) shirt and clean it up a bit, and had pinned a fresh flower to his chest. Teddie bounded up to the stage next to his partner, putting on his best performance face. His best sparkles were following him up, doing more to attract attention to him (and perhaps his partner) than detract (as was usually the norm).

"Ready for this, roomie?"

Rose was just sitting and waiting, swinging her legs back and forth idly as she did so. She was less interested in the singing part as she was about the competition itself-- it was a contest! Maybe they'd have prizes!

Lagoona approached Rose, intending to get her up to the stage area. When she got close enough, she asked, "Rose, are you ready?"

When it was their turn, Ben hurriedly began to set up their props on the stage. Several potted plants from around the train, amongst other things, were placed there to give it a 'jungle atmosphere'. It seemed that Abed knew about this song beforehand and wanted to make the performance authentic somehow. Wiping some sweat off his forehead, he turned to gaze at Abed. "I think I'm done."

Things were starting off well. The jungle atmosphere turned out even better than Abed originally imagined.

"Cool." He gave Ben a nod. He was happy that his partner was putting in the effort, and perhaps their intense rehearsing would pay off. "There's just one last thing. Here, put these on." Abed then offered Ben a curious headband that featured the hair and ears of a meerkat. How he obtained such a thing was a minor detail of practically no consequence.

Reluctantly, he took te headband, then peered over at the audience. As humiliating as this was, he felt he needed to take one for the home team. Besides, maybe if they won this competition, the prize might be that they go home. Wishful thinking, indeed.

"I really hope this is worth it." Putting the headband on, he could have sworn he heard some giggling out there. But it could just be him...
