1. For some reason or another, I have a very negative sense of self at the current moment -- it could in part be due to an unfortunate family member of a patient relaying undeserving and harsh words at myself, or in part due to a miscommunication with the boyfriend earlier today ( Read more... )

Question:

How can a car that's nearly brand new only last you a couple more years? Every car I've ever owned has been 10+ years old and given me awesome service.

My car is seven, going on eight years old with nearly 75,000 miles. I suspect I'll hit the 90,000 marker in less than two years and by that time, the car will be nine, going on ten years old.

Ahh, well you should fret not. It's a Japanese car and most of them last way into the 200's. The Cavalier is the same age but it's at 102,000 and hasn't even begun to have any sort of serious problems, and the engine is still running like a titan. The only things to go wrong with it thus far are the brakes and the A/C compressor clutch, but those are expected issues as a car gets up there in age.

Just don't junk your Mazda unless something happens like the engine blows up. It's a good car!

I wouldn't recommend 60-hour weeks - no, ma'am. I made some money doing so, yes - but lost some sanity.

Your mind's more important than money.

And free time! Free time gets much more important the less of it you have. :-/

Even if your house is in shambles, I'd come celebrate your turning 20-itude. Maybe ask everyone to meet up somewhere? Dave and Busters or Buffalo Wild Wings? Then you know the folks that care will be there, since they have to cover their own tab. :D Also, way less clean up.

Your car isn't going to die any time soon. It may have a few stupid problems with it now, but they're not life-threatening. However, I do understand that you aren't too fond of it. It is, after all, a whole lot slower and less roomy than your Malibu was. So if you feel a new car would add to your happiness, you should look into it ( ... )

I have found the female physicians I have spoken with to be far less understanding than their male counterparts, oddly enough.

Save up while still driving your Mazda and buy a decent used car with cash. Financing is for suckers because you have to carry full insurance which is like throwing your money out the window.

But stay with something Japanese! I'm not exaggerating when I say the ONLY American car I've seen that has been relatively problem free is the Cavalier. Kent's Oldsmo, my New Yorker, my old Buick, my current Buick, my fucking stupid Ford Ranger, my dad's old Bonneville, my dad's old Vista Cruiser, Ryan's Impala, Joe Gray's Impala all have had severe problems related to the engine or transmission. I've only known of one Toyota to ever have a severe problem like that.

i agree, stay foreign!!
toyotas and hondas are the best you can buy, and hyundais are cheap, have a the best warranty out there, and newer models are really quite good cars.

wish i could come out for your birthday. unfortunately i don't have a dime to my name. =/
