I am in England for research for two months! Spent the last three days ensconced in the Wellcome; will spend the next three touring, then back to work.

I am fairly sure this is what a low-level panic attack feels like.

Trying my hand at a sonnet with proper iambic pentameter. It's tough as hell, which gives me (if this was possible) even more respect for the old canon---and mine doesn't even rhyme.

 As much as I echo them myself, I always feel guilty about the demands made of medical professionals by humanities scholars. Asking someone to be a martyr to the human heart is, after all, a tall order. Keats knew this.  

So my funding package just got cut in half. Ugh. I'm now 1. really, really reliant on getting an Ontario Graduate Scholarship this year, and 2. going to apply for a ton of extracurricular jobs (at the university, of course---not eligible to work elsewhere ( Read more... )

 This is the last exam I will ever take in my life. The big one. After this, if I pass, I'll be ABD.

Please keep your collective internetfingers crossed. Oral exams terrify me---I failed the only one I've ever taken before---and I really need to knock this one out of the park.
