So I’ve been living alone for the last few weeks now, and I must admit that I’m doing quite fine. Is it wrong that I miss my cat more than my boyfriend & roommate of the last 4 ½ years? So yeah, I had my cat cremated. When revealing this to people, I’ve gotten back a wide variety of responses. I got the call. This afternoon, I’ll go to the vet and sit with Bear while they put him to rest. His kidneys have failed him, and while the vet says he could keep him alive, he says it would be under no quality of life. He doesn't think dialysis is a good or humane option, and kidney transplants are risky and run $12k - $15k ( Read more... )

Bear made it through the night, and I visited him again yesterday afternoon. Still no improvement. The vet called last night to tell me they were losing hope. They will check his kidney levels one more time this morning, and if there is still no improvement, I guess we’re giving up ( Read more... )
