"Well, we've all survived," Jono intoned, looking around at the people who had gathered for the rehearsal today. "And just in the nick of time, too. I know the Nothing did a fair bit of eating into our rehearsal time, but the show is scheduled for Friday, tickets are on sale, and so help me, we're going to have something to show for this

And so now, praying that she wasn't waking him up at like four in the morn--wait. It was Jono. Ha! Sleeping.
Karla was calling now. Ringringring

"Karla. Lord, woman, where are you?"
She was not here. That much, he'd gathered.

He was also kind of emo. But Karla was trying to distract Jono with information, not make him think she'd lost her damn mind.

Jono couldn't picture a tall, well-groomed Logan. It simply didn't compute. At all.
Actually, it was more difficult to swallow than Karla on the bloody Blackbird at the moment.
"Why are you on the Blackbird, Karla?"
Reply
"Hey!"
"What?" Karla retorted, turning slightly away from the phone. "It's kind of a compliment! I said 'isn't,' didn't I?"
Turning back to her phone, she continued, "Because there's some guy named Magneto who isn't very nice. And is planning on taking out Warren's dad's company." Hmmm. Perhaps she could be a little sparing on details. "I guess he's not a big fan of infrastructure?"
Or the cure. But that was a legit grievance as far as Karla was concerned.

"You're going up against Magneto!?" Yes, that squawk was probably loud enough to be heard through the Blackbird. "Karla! 'Isn't very nice' is a bit of a bloody understatement, I should think!"
Flailing. He was now flailing.

Grasp at straws a little harder, Karla.

Yes, Jono was sounding increasingly suspicious, here.
"Timeline issues are the least of my concerns in a reality where Warren is still a teenager, Karla. If you have anything metal on you, get rid of it. Anything. Bloody hell, Logan is going up against Magneto? He should know better than that!"
And now he was ranting. You're welcome.

"So, uhh, it's me, Warren, Kitty--you said Kitty, right?--yeah, Kitty and fake!Bobby--"
"Hey!"
"I'm sorry, this is a private conversation, Fake!Bobby. Stop listening in."
"You're right there."
"You could still make more of an effort. Anyway, us and, umm...Colossus? That's us. They're all about our age. Then there's Logan, Miss Munroe, and Dr. McCoy, the ex-Secretary of Mutant Affairs."
"Hey kid. The phrase 'secret identity' mean anything to ya?"
"Chamber used to be an X-Man," Karla retorted. "In a universe where Warren's a millionaire playboy with a thing for teenagers, Fake!Bobby's an ass, and Logan is the only member of the team who gives a damn. And he's from the future, I think."
"Oh. Hey, does he have any idea how to take out Jean Grey?"
"Quiet, 'fake-Bobby.' I'm worrying about Jean. I don't need any help from Balcony, either."
"See? We're going to be fine!" Karla said brightly.

Yes, now Jono was roaring.
Roaring.
Enjoy that, Karla's ear.
"Where the hell is Scott!?"

Karla pulled her phone away and glared. She was starting to miss the time when she could only get yelled at via text. On the other hand, people had seemed to stop doubting her, considering Jono apparently knew the right questions to ask.
"Not to be disrespectful or anything," she told him once Jono had stopped shouting, "but I think he, uhh, didn't survive his initial reunion with Jean. And Mr. Xavier--"
"Professor!" That correction was from several people at once.
"Professor Xavier also didn't make it."
It was okay, though, Jono. Logan had a plan.
Reply
"Scott's dead. Xavier's dead again. Jean and Magneto are on the same side, and you're in the Blackbird with Wolverine, Storm, Iceman, Shadowcat, Colossus, and the Beast, flying to god-knows-where to face them down in order to save Warren's father's company. Is that about right?"
Reply
"Mostly right. We're going to Alcatraz, though. That's where Warren's dad is." There were some strangled sounds THAT'S RIGHT, I MODDED YOU, DEAL WITH IT coming from the other end of the phone prompting her to add, "because he bought it and turned it into some kind of lab. He's not in Alcatraz. Or, rather, he's in there, but not because it's Alcatraz. I don't think he's in prison."
Yet.
"Yet."
"Bobby!"
"Sorry, Storm. But we were all thinking it!"
"Not true, my boy. Making the cure will probably earn him a medal."
"Someone's still a little bitter about the government's response," Karla confided.
Reply
Just so you know.
"You know there's nothing even remotely intelligent about what you're about to do, right?"
Just throwing that out there.

Yeah. Not letting go of that just yet.
"No, you know what, if you don't know, they're probably not involved, and it's for the best you just keep not knowing. I'll tell you when you get back. In one piece. Because if you don't, I'm going to throttle you."
