it's annoying because all of this means even more people talking about this chick who is basically only famous because she's rich. she's squandering her wealth when a lot of people would kill for the opportunities she has. mass schadenfruede seems only natural.

but outright cheering and laughing at someone's distress, especially when they've done nothing to you, yeah that's pretty weak.

yeah dood, but where do you draw the line? are we too squandering our wealth? i know, college is important and we are (hopefully) going to become assets to society, butttt could there be someone out there who would kill for our opportunities? is there someone who would appreciate living in gilbert and not want to go somewhere else? i know that i slack off at school sometimes; is there a student who couldn't attend college for whatever reason that would benefit more from the education i am currently receiving?
i dont know, man

yeah I see your point, but Paris Hilton is in like the top 2% of society. her situation is on a larger scale than, say, me getting pissed off at my National Merit friends for spending their scholarship money on poker and pot. she's able to just walk into a movie or a recording studio when there's more deserving people who will never have that sort of backing.

I guess I'm really just a dirty commie or something, but I can see how people (the general public; not douchey news anchors) would be somewhat relieved that she won't be able to use her wealth or status to get past the law.

ha, you know how i feel about those communists. no, i agree that the law shouldn't change for richer or for poorer; but i also believe that someone should not be punished extra for being rich. i suppose that i view this as a sort of reverse discrimination, which sounds (understandably) semi-retarded in regards to such a wealthy socialite.
