& i suppose a little different, as i have a piece that isn't yarn.
i'm in a surface design class, & my latest piece was actually an air & ocean inspired one.

the fabric is one yard of 8mm habotai silk.
dyed with acid dye, i did a flat layer for the overall lilac-y/grey color, then used the arashi shibori technique with cotton thread for the turquoise ( Read more... )

...that it's SPRING!
My imagination has been working overtime envisioning the snow melting and our spring garden emerging. Here is a yarn-y interpretation of said imaginings using bamboo, tussah silk, and recycled sari "sprouts."
